The party had endorsed former governor of Akwa Ibom, Godswill Akpabio and Barau Jibrin as president of the senate and deputy president of the senate respectively

The aggrieved Senators said they were not satisfied with the arrangement as they were expecting to be given fair play in the exercise.

The lawmakers said they had done their best to ensure that the party remained in power and deserved to be carried along in its decisions, adding that politics was all about dialogue and communication, saying that all sides should be given a fair hearing.

But Adamu reiterated that his hands are tied on that decision adding that it would be in the best interest of the aggrieved senators to support and respect the party’s stance on the issue.

He however refused to agree with the Senators that they worked hard for the success of the party to ensure it remained in power.

Adamu said that even though the party’s consensus candidates aren’t necessarily his choice candidates, Akpabio in his estimation, is a far better candidate than Kalu.

He hinged his comparison on the fact that Kalu did not work assiduously for the party in the last general elections. He accused Kalu of relaxing during the presidential election and not delivering his ward as expected.

He said Kalu who ensured he garnered over 60 per cent votes at the polls for his own return to the senate on the same day the presidential election held, was unable to get enough votes for the president-elect, Bola Tinubu.

Adamu claimed that it was a disastrous outing for Tinubu in Kalu’s ward as Tinubu got measly votes, just about 100 votes precisely.
