The group gave the hint on Monday in a press statement made available to Blueprint.
The statement is with the theme; ‘Saving Nigeria: A Collective Toil’.
Signed by the Convener, Free Nigeria Movement, Dr Moses Paul, the group expressed dismay that the past few days has been marked by vile and desperation by those whose contribution to the country has become a steady output of violence, distortion of national ethos, ineptitude and disillusioned governance.
The desperation to gag opposing voices according to them was aimed wt foisting a pre-determined narrative on the international community.
It reads partly: “For Nigeria is our mother. We owe her care and protection and not abandon her to incestuous rape by corrupt politicians through our collective silence.
“We have also held national prayers for the nation. But above all, we have maintained a non-violent stance in our bid to seek redress for our demands.
“In the last twenty one days (21), we have made a consistent call for the cancellation of the presidential election, risking our lives amidst threats of attack by political thugs and violence merchants.
“We have made presentations to the governments of the United States, Britain, and country representatives of the United Nations, European Union and ECOWAS Commission.
“We have also held a press conference to clarify our position on the declaration of an Interim National Government when the ill-planned attempt by spin doctors to frame it as a call for a military takeover began to build heat in the polity.” the statement further said.
The group had earlier demanded among other things the cancellation of the election results and need for a Truth and Reconciliation Committee to heal wounds occasioned by the elections.
On comments purportedly made by Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, the group cleared the air that it did not frown at it, but maintained that his stance was unfortunate and regrettable.
“It is on record that Prof. Wole Soyinka never condemned the shameless episode of
ethnic profiling, instigation and hate speech by elements such as Musiliu Akinsanya (a.k.a MC Oluomo), Bayo Onanuga, Femi Fani – Kayode, and a host of other atrocious persons. Or are their actions not fascist?
