Oparaocha had challenged the process behind the emergence of Iwuanyanwu as the new Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo President after he was said to have been appointed by a few elders and traditional rulers from Imo state and presented to Governor Hope Uzodinma for ratification.
The former contestant who came distant second after the late former President, George Obiozor was however quick to add that, it is not that he is afraid of Iwuanyanwu speaking out but to set records straight that the entire thing was done without the Imeobi and the Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo worldwide.
Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo worldwide Presidency has a laid down procedure, and this is completely different from how Iwuanyanwu came in. ‘the process that brought him in is not known to us and that is why we spoke out so that the right thing should be done to avoid setting wrong precedence capable of creating bigger problems and disaffections within the fold’.
Oparaocha also denied speculations that he was dragging Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo and Chief Iwuanyanwu to Court for not being carried along in the entire process that brought in the elder statesman, insisting that there should have been wider consultations before pronouncing him as the President of the pan-Igbo group.
The retired security personnel told our correspondent in an interview, adding that ‘incidentally, both of us are from the same Local Government and I wonder why anyone could concoct such wild allegations’.
“I did not discuss anything of such with any lawyer, I have gone through the first report and I didn’t see anything suggesting that. I only pointed out that due process of election was not followed which means they have set the wrong precedence, and that is why I am of the view that critical stakeholders like us should have been duly consulted or carried along”.
Moving forward, Oparaocha said, “I heard that the Imeobi has ratified Iwuanyanwu as a replacement for late Obiozor. I was also made to understand that the Governors of the five core-Igbo speaking states are okay with him as they were well represented in Enugu and that the former Governor, Mr. Peter Obi was also in attendant”.
While calling on those he described as ‘mischief makers’ trying to create disaffection between him, Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo worldwide and Chief Iwuanyanwu to desist from such, Oparaocha said, “If the 5 core Igbo-speaking states are okay with Iwuanyanwu and Imeobi has also endorsed, why should I start fighting them?….CONTINUE READING
