Akande told SOJ WORLDWIDE in a private chat that he was inspired to join the Police Force when he was a boy as a result of regale of the Pulling Out Parade of his father, L. A. Akande CP (Rtd) who also retired in 1972.
He said that one of the reasons he insisted in conducting the ceremony was for the benefit of those coming behind him, that, if they are committed to the service of the nation they will be honoured like this.
“A policeman is never rich but a policeman is always comfortable.”
When asked, what are the challenges he faced while in service, he said life itself is always full of challenges. He said, he has conditioned himself to be awake between 10pm and 4am everyday since 1990 because the criminals always operate in the nights.
