Tor, while noting the challenges the group faced, including the wave of discriminations and oppression it suffered while working hard to ensure Tinubu’s victory, stressed that OPI is confident that the Tinubu-led administration would actively involve women and youths in governance, as well as in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
According to her, “From the beginning, we were the Igbo group that supported Tinubu; we went round the six geopolitical zones and we are happy that finally our dreams have come true.
Although we faced oppression and discrimination, we survived it, and we are here to say thank you God for making this day possible.”
Tor who disclosed further that the event was to thank God and to celebrate Tinubu and Shettima as they come on board, added that the group had made promises to the people, particularly regarding gender and youth inclusion, and that they expect Tinubu to fulfill these promises.
The OPI president also emphasised the need for Tinubu to run the country in a manner that would bring happiness, unity, and true federalism back to Nigeria.
She remarked, “Based on what we have promised Nigerians, together we will join them to make sure the promises come to pass.”
A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Dr. Jude Idimogu, who also spoke at the event said, “Tinubu is a man of the people who will work for all because he does not discriminate.
“Right from when he was Lagos State Governor, he had a lot of Igbos in his cabinet, including myself, and his presidency will not be different.
“Tinubu is a man that wants total inclusiveness, so Igbos will have a place in this government,” he assured.
Similarly, a member of the House of Representatives from Imo State, Mrs. Miriam Onuoha, expressed her delight at Tinubu’s election, which she described as “a dream come true.” She insisted that she believes that Tinubu’s victory would mark the beginning of a new era of hope.
