Mixed reactions have trailed the visit of Abdulkarim Kana, an All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant in Nasarawa west, to communities recently affected by attacks in Nasarawa State.
Kana reportedly wore a bulletproof vest during a condolence visit to some Afo communities in the district.
The former commissioner of justice and Attorney-General of the state was scheduled to visit Apura and other affected communities to commiserate with residents over the recent attacks.
A Facebook user, Modibbo Imran, disclosed the development in a post on Monday. Imran praised Kana’s visit, saying the senatorial aspirant was in the communities to console residents over the violence.
The attack reportedly claimed several lives and led to the destruction of more than 50 houses. Farm produce and other valuables worth millions of naira were also said to have been destroyed in the incident.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, deputy governor of Nasarawa state, is presiding over a peace meeting with stakeholders from the affected communities.
The meeting is aimed at restoring peace and preventing further escalation of violence in the area.
