The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised alarm over the alleged sale of fake nomination forms in Enugu state ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement issued on Friday, the party’s national publicity secretary, Osa Director, accused John Paul Anih of impersonation and unauthorised activities in the state.
The NDC said Anih was falsely presenting himself as the Enugu state chairman of the party.
According to the statement, Ibuchukwu Obeta remains the authentic and legally recognised chairman of the party in the state.
The party alleged that Anih conducted what it described as a “kangaroo state congress” and installed himself as chairman.
The NDC also alleged that he approached a court in Enugu seeking recognition as the party’s chairman in the state.
According to the statement, Anih forged and reproduced copies of the party’s expression of interest forms which were allegedly sold to unsuspecting aspirants.
“The NDC hereby warns unsuspecting members of the public that Mr. John Paul Anih does not represent the NDC in any category whatsoever, and whoever transacts any business with him on behalf of the NDC does so at his/her own risk,” the statement read.
The party further alleged that Anih set up an unauthorised screening committee for aspirants seeking election into the Enugu state house of assembly.
The NDC said its national leadership had already constituted an official screening committee for the state.
According to the party, the committee comprises Sylvester O. Nwankwo, Ifeanyi Emmanuel Agbom and Ngene Helen Funmilola.
“Any other person outside of the above mentioned, purporting to be a member of the Enugu State House of Assembly aspirants screening Committee is a fraud and should be treated as such,” the statement added.
