This is because when you increase the intake of sugar substitutes it may eventually result in diabetes and obesity, this is why in this article I will be discussing some of the best sugar substitutes for people with diabetes, according to healthline.com;

1. Ste

This is a low-calorie sweetener that is extracted from the leaves of the Ste rebaudiana plant, this plant is usually grown for its sweetness and its medicinal uses.

Approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), this sweetener has antidiabetic and antioxidant properties, it can also suppress a person’s plasma glucose levels, thus increasing glucose tolerance.

Other notable functions of ste are; it can stabilize blood sugar levels, counter the workings of type 2 diabetes and its complications, increase insulin production and subsequently increase its effects on the cell membrane.

2. Tagatose

This is another natural sugar alternative which researchers are studying, based on preliminary studies it has been shown to lower a person’s blood sugar and insulin response, it interferes with the absorption of carbohydrates in the body.

In the year 2018, a review of studies conducted, concluded that Tagatose is a very promising sweetener with no major adverse effect being observed, which means it could be a potential antidiabetic and antiobesity medication.

3. Monk fruit

The monk fruit extract is also a good substitute for sugar which can be used, however, nothing is better than using fresh fruit instead.
