According to PUNCH, “In results that were later combined with those from Demsa and Yola South, eight council areas were also included. Governor Fintiri increased his advantage of 31,249 with victories in Demsa, Lamurde, Jada, Ganye, Song, Maiha, Hong, and Shelleng, while Sen. Binani only won in Yola North and Yola South out of 10 council areas.”
“Out of the 10 council districts where results for the Adamawa Supplementary Governorship elections have been made public, only Yola North and Yola South were won by Binani.” Source stated.
However, “there was controversy when media inquired as to whether Yunusa Ari, the resident electoral commissioner for Adamawa, had recused himself from overseeing the holding of additional polls as requested by the PDP in Adamawa.”
PUNCH reported that, “The PDP initially questioned the REC’s impartiality after a leaked audio tape surfaced in which the REC was heard pleading with the electoral officer in Fufore to assist “This woman.” The PDP has since continued to do so.”
As of the time this report was submitted, “the polls from the 10 Councils showed that Governor Ahmadu Fintiri still had a significant lead over Sen. Binani in the contest for the Dougirei government house.”
PUNCH further reported, “As of right now, Fintiri has received 3, 881 of the 37,016 votes that are up for grabs in the supplementary elections, while Sen. Binani has received 2,527 of them.”
The embattled REC, Barrister Yunusa Ari, “announced the suspension of the collation when he unexpectedly returned to oversee the conduct of the supplemental elections. Collation of the governorship will continue later on Sunday at 11 a.m.” source added…..CONTINUE READING
