Kefas, in a statement made available to journalists after his victory at the poll, had promised to clear all the salary arrears being owed workers by the administration of Governor Ishaku, pledging to pay the backlog of the arrears within 100 days in office after his inauguration come May 29, 2023.…..CONTINUE READING
But, Governor Ishaku while reacting to Kefas’ promise, said that his administration was not owing the civil servants any salary arrears in the state to have warrant the promise from the governor-elect.
In a press statement signed by the Special Adviser to Governor Ishaku on media and publicity, Bala Dan-Habu, the governor frowned that Kefas’ promise to the workers, saying it was unnecessary since his administration has paid the salaries of civil servants up to date.
“The outgoing administration of Governor Darius Ishaku is not owing any group of workers in the state monthly salaries and, therefore, will not be leaving behind any burden arising from unpaid emoluments for the in-coming administration.
“This clarification became necessary following a press statement issued recently on behalf of the in-coming administration of Lt Col Agbu Kefas, the Governor-elect which contained a promise to pay salary arrears in its first 100 days.
