Shehu Sani, former senator representing Kaduna central, has criticised the alleged sale of land at Jabi Lake Park, accusing Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), of undermining the area’s original design.
Sani raised the concern in a post on X, warning that the development could violate the master plan of Abuja.
He said the park was designed and constructed during the administration of Olusegun Obasanjo more than two decades ago as a recreational space for residents.
His words: “Jabi lake park Abuja was designed and constructed by the Obasanjo administration over 2 decades ago. The picturesque space is a hub for picnic, camping and recreational activities for Abuja residents.”
Sani expressed concern that parts of the land are allegedly being carved out and sold for construction projects.
“It’s sad to see the land being caved out and sold. I don’t even know what they are constructing there,” he lamented,
The former lawmaker warned that any approval granted in violation of the Abuja master plan may not stand in the future.
“Those who bought the land in violation of the master plan should know that the approval of today will not stand the scrutiny of the future,” he added.
The FCTA under Wike recently approved the sale of the land which has triggered outrage from so many residents of Abuja.
