The P.S revealed this in his office at the weekend, saying Senator Al-Makura was furious over a report by an Online newspaper, Universal Reporters describing the report as mere blackmail to tarnish the good image of the current senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial zone.
Asking pertinent questions on why Universal Reporters only beam its report on the stewardship of the former Governor excluding other House of Representatives and Senators from the report.
“By the way, Universal Reporters only covers Nasarawa State with few readers from only one Local Government, Doma, you are not EFCC or ICPC, your report will only die here” he insisted.
According to him,” What you wrote was not a true reflection of the story, In fact, I’m the one that pleaded with him not to go to court, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura draws my attention to that report and threatened to drag the reporter to court, he added.
It would be recalled that the Nasarawa State coordinator of Budgit, A Non-Governmental Civic Organization, Sarah Musa declared this during an interview.
Budgit, A Non-Governmental Civic Organization saddled with the responsibility of monitoring of projects executed by members of the National Assembly, that is both members of the Senate and House of Representatives in Nasarawa State.
Serah in April last year (2022) maintained that any project that exceeds the same year is automatically an abandoned project, The coordinator who was at Government Technical Science College, Doma in February however said the position of Budgit is unshakable.
It could be recalled that the incumbent Senator representing Nasarawa South, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura lobbied for the construction of number of drainages and culverts along Idadu-Agbashi road in the year 2021 budget through the Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority, and huge amount of the money was released but yet nothing was done at the site.
The Senator confirmed to Universal Reporters in June last year that the project would be completed before August, 2022, but when our Correspondent went to the project site at the palace of the paramount ruler of Agbashi, Moses Alade it was an eyesore as nothing was done by the Senator.
Al-Makura decried the daily skyrocketing of prices of construction materials to some of the impediments, saying he has over spent what was allocated for most of his constituency projects over the years.
The outgoing Senator in an exclusive interview hinted that he did not abandon any project, he however insisted that the project was moved from it original place due to the award of the 24km Idadu-Agbashi road by Governor Abdullahi Sule.
The immediate past Governor averred that the flagging of Idadu-Agbashi road in December, 2021 by Governor Abdullahi Sule has affected the contract.
According to him, the N100m project was captured in National Assembly 2021 Federal Government consolidated project and facilitated by him is intact.
Other projects that are still hanging are the N50m meant for the procurement of units of transformers under the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) It was however discover that the project is invisible few months to the expiration of the tenure of elective officials across line.
Other projects embarked by Senator Al-Makura includes the supply of fertilizer herbicide to farmers in Nasarawa South Senatorial zone, Al-Makura also benefitted from a N250,000,000m meant for the training and employment of youths engaged in Agricultural and Farming activities across Nasarawa State under the National Directorate of Employment and the Federal Ministry of labour and Employment, a contract with number ERGP 5540043619.
While one of his projects under the National Rural Electrification Agency which was shoulder with the supply and installation of transformer in Awe/Doma/Keana Federal constituency is history.
One of the missing projects from Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura’s project is the N50,000,000m provision of solar street light to communities in his zone, some of the projects he lobbied for includes the construction of a bridge between Kwandare and Lafia at the tune of N100,000,000 million.
There was mixed reaction over the whereabouts of N20,000,000 million meant for the provision of an “all in one” street light at Judges Street Lafia, a location yet to be known by in Lafia, The State capital.
Al-Makura despite the quantum of abandoned projects has embarked on the construction of N100,000,000m federal ministry of water resource along orphanage home behind GTB road in Lafia, the State capital, He also embarked on the construction of a Primary Health Care in Daddere community of Obi Local Government, and amongst other projects.
He also constructed road from Agyaragu town to Sabon Kwarra, which was amongst the projects he lobbied across ministries, further findings revealed that the road project supposed to terminate at Kwarra town in Keana Local Government not Sabon Kwarra in Obi Local Government…..CONTINUE READING
