reports that the tribunal initiated its final judgment today, September 6, with Justice Abba Mohammed presiding over the reading of the judgment in the case of Peter Obi and the Liberal Party (LP).

Before this, the court had briefly adjourned after delivering its verdict on the petition filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) challenging the eligibility of President Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima.

Upon reconvening, the tribunal addressed the petition brought forth by Peter Obi and LP, emphasizing the necessity of precise figures in election matters. The court noted that although Obi and LP claimed to have secured the majority of lawful votes, they failed to specify the actual number of lawful votes they received.

Justice Abba Mohammed remarked, “The determination of an election hinges on figures. They failed to state the number of votes affected and the number of people disenfranchised.”

Regarding the Obi/LP petition, the tribunal criticized it for presenting only “generic accusations of irregularities” without providing concrete details about the alleged anomalies, their locations, or the individuals affected by them….CONTINUE READING
