A resident of the area, Olug­benga Adebayo, while speaking with journalists on the matter on Monday, said that sometime in January this year, residents woke up to see construction workers digging the ground for possible erection of a struc­ture on the access road, which links the community from the main road.

Adebayo alleged that when concerned residents approached them, the buyer of the land, Alato, told them that he had purchased the land and that he is building on it immediately.

This prompted them to ap­proach the Kuola Division of the Nigeria Police to make a formal complaint.

It was gathered that a team of Police visited the scene and arrested Alato and some of the workers on the land.

It was alleged that the mat­ter took another twist when a call came into Kuola Police Station to refer the case to Iyaganku Area Command for further investigation.

While making the allega­tions, one of the residents, Odunayo Oyedeji, who lodged complaints at Kuola Police Station, said: “When we got to Iyaganku Area Command, we thought they were going to handle the case in a way that will favour us since we are the complainants. We started noticing some changes in the way the matter was going.

“They brought us to the access road on which Alato was working to build and to our surprise, the Police said there is nothing to show that the place is a road. We were in shock to hear this from the Police despite the fact that the documents that are with every house owner show that the place is a link road to the community.

“When we got back to Iya­ganku, our phones were col­lected, while those of Alato and his wife were not collect­ed. He was seen making calls and even taking soft drinks in the office of the Police…..CONTINUE READING
