The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a stern warning to individuals harboring intentions to disrupt the upcoming transition process.
The secret police emphasized that it would work in close collaboration with sister security agencies to ensure a seamless and orderly inauguration of Bola Tinubu as the President of Nigeria on May 29.
Freshreporters Media gathered in a statement released on Tuesday by DSS spokesperson Peter Afunanya, the agency expressed its determination to resist any criminal elements seeking to undermine the democratic transition.
The DSS, along with other security outfits, remains committed to upholding the integrity of the process and maintaining a secure environment.
The warning comes shortly after the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, reaffirmed the sacrosanct nature of the May 29 handover date for President Muhammadu Buhari and the subsequent inauguration of Bola Tinubu.
The IGP cautioned politicians who might attempt to disrupt or impede the democratic process, urging them to exercise mindfulness and respect the principles of democracy.
In their statement, the DSS stressed, “The Service unequivocally states that it will continue to collaborate with sister agencies to rid the nation of criminal elements, particularly during this transition period and beyond.”
