Ortom also denied referring him to the Disciplinary Committee for alleged anti-party activity in disregard for an existing court order.

The PDP-NWC also previously suspended the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, his former Katsina State counterpart, Barr. Ibrahim Shema, the former President of the Senate, Anyim Pius Anyim, and two others for the same crime.

Ortom responded, in a statement signed by his principal publisher, Nathaniel Ikyur.

The statement read: “Governor Ortom said that the PDP leadership disregarded a court order banning the party or any party body from taking disciplinary action against him.”

“The case is pending in court, and there is an injunction barring any party body from taking disciplinary action against the governor,” Ikyur said.

“This matter is adjourned to April 18, 2023 and therefore it is disturbing to see such a statement coming from the party’s national leadership.”

He quoted his principal as saying, “I think the national leadership of our great party is losing its way.” Instead of leaders sitting down and thinking about how to rebuild the party from the wreckage of the election defeat that just ended, they run after imaginary shadows.

“In any case, the first person the party should submit to the disciplinary committee should be the party’s national president, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu.”

“The national chairman has lost his constituency, county, local government, and even state.”

“As if that weren’t enough, there are clear indications that the National Chairman Ayu has engaged in anti-party activities in Benue State by working for the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC, just to attack me, because of my principled stance against certain issues in terms of party leadership.

The governor said the party must not be mocked by individuals who want to destroy the party for their own selfish gain.
