Her commentary comes after Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, on Tuesday, received officials of the Police Reform and Transformation Office attached to the Presidency, who handed over to him the Nigeria Police Force Strategic Communication Materials and other working tools.

She said: “I might not have lived long to celebrate a birthday if not for the intervention of some group of policemen who saved my life and that of my family. They heard that armed robbers were coming to our house. They had the intelligence, they looked for the house and caught this really armed robber.”

“We were in shock as a family, my parents were asking if these people are not the armed robbers themselves. And you know even with the doubts and disbelief that we had to check through all the step of the way we found out that there we genuine policemen who had intelligence before that time and acted on the intelligence they got and stood guard. I still can never forget it.”

According to the Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the materials were produced by the Supporting Police Reform Processes in Nigeria project led by the United Nations Development Programme and the Global Security Sector Reform Foundation in collaboration with PORTO, CLEEN Foundation, the NPF and the office of the Chief of Staff to the President.

Adejobi said, “Mr Lardner noted that the project is part of the support to the police reform initiative in Nigeria to shape perceptions and enhance awareness of the law and the ongoing police reform process.
