Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereri, the Deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November election in Imo State, has criticized the tribunal verdict squashing the election of Hon. Ugochinyere Michael, representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives….

Onyereri described the verdict as a miscarriage of justice against the will of the people, adding that the “Supreme Court had ruled on the pre-election matters as it has to do with venue and gave Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere victory before the general election.”

I see no reason the tribunal should overrule the supreme court on the same matter that was ruled by the Apex court in the land.”

He explained that the Apex Court has established that pre-election matters are intra-party affairs, not inter-party, as only political parties can determine who their candidates are.

Onyereri, who insisted that such matters shouldn’t be entertained by a court of competent jurisdiction, pointed out that the judgment of the tribunal led by Justice Akpovi should be reviewed and records set straight for the sake of posterity.

This is as he stressed that the party in the state will appeal “this unjust verdict and we shall return home with victory.”

He further urged the supporters and leaders of Ideato North and South Federal Constituency and members of the PDP in Imo State to remain calm and remain law abiding “as the Court of Appeal shall bring the expected and desired Justice to the good people of Ideato Nation and Imo people at large because Ikenga’s victory at the poll was divine as it was a victory for Imo people

He maintained that the party was solid with Hon. Ugochinyere “on the struggle to entrench good governance in our society….CONTINUE READING
