Speaking exclusively to The Informant247, Ibrahim Ali who is one of the affected graduates accused the school of negligence.

He said, “Some of us have graduated since 2018 and were inducted in 2021. We have had a series of meetings with the school on the issue of our NYSC mobilisation for the past five years without any tangible results.

“Initially, we had a regularisation issue with the NYSC because they told us that the course we had on our JAMB portal is different from the one the University offered us.”

Ibrahim revealed that some students who were admitted for Biochemistry were later changed to MLS by the school.

He noted that the affected students had to resort to personal efforts to clear the issue of regularisation with the NYSC.

“We all have to contribute money by ourselves to solve the issue of regularisation. The school didn’t help us at all.

“I have finished my internship since January 2022 and yet to be mobilized for the NYSC and they are still doing induction for some students today,” remarked Ali who said about three to four sets of graduands are affected.

“The Management of Kwara State University, KWASU, Malete, reassures the remaining batch of graduands of Medical Laboratory Science who have issues of regularisation with JAMB and mobilisation for Service that the University has not relented in its effort to get the agencies involved to resolve all the issues,” the statement said.

The statement noted that the “University is in constant contact with both JAMB and NYSC as the Management considers it a duty to ensure that no student is left out.”

“Officers of the University in charge of these duties have made the needed submissions to JAMB and NYSC and there is evidence that the matters would be resolved in due course.

“As a world class University, KWASU takes the welfare of her students seriously and would not jeopardise the future of her graduates….CONTINUE READING
