My Administration will continue to rehabilitate failed federal roads without refunds — Gov Bala

Bauchi Governor, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has declared that his administration will continue to take care of rehabilitation of Federal Highways in the state to make transportation easier for road users across the State….CONTINUE READING
The Governor consequently paid an unscheduled inspection visit to some of the ongoing road rehabilitation projects at Lanzai and Konkiyel communities in Darazo Local Government Area.
The roads were recently washed away following a heavy downpour, causing transportation hardship and inconveniences to commuters traveling along the ever-busy Bauchi to Maiduguri Federal Highway as wel as other local government areas of the State.
While inspecting the level of progress made by the contracting firm, Bala Mohammed said that although it is a Federal Road, his administration would shoulder the responsibility without demanding refunds from the Federal Ministry of Works.
He said that as soon as he was informed about the failing of the portions of the road, he duly informed the Federal Ministry of Works through the Controller in the State before mobilizing Contractors to the site to immediately fix the portions for the benefit of the people of the state and others passing through the state.
Bala Mohammed stressed that the road is very important for the three states of Bauchi, Borno and Yobe states, the more reason his administration took responsibilities of fixing the failed portions.
He stressed that the three tiers of governance in the country, Federal, State and LGAs are all working for the welfare of the citizens and should therefore completement each other.
The Governor noted that timely completion of the failed portions of the road will allow smooth business operations within and outside the state.
He expressed satisfaction with the quality of the work being done which according to him, is inline with the contractual agreements with the Contractors.
Bala Mohammed also said that the commitment shown by the Contractors indicated that the projects would be done within the timeframe of three weeks.
The Governor used the opportunity to inspect the projects while returning from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital where he took part of the 8th meeting of Northeast Governors Forum NEGF….CONTINUE READING
