The Senator representing Bayelsa West in the National Assembly, Seriake Dickson, has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “killed and buried” party.
The former Bayelsa State Governor gave the description on Tuesday while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
Dickson submitted that former President Goodluck Jonathan must be very sad about the happenings in the PDP, having been part of it during its flourishing times.
Asked during the show if he had informed Jonathan before his recent defection from the PDP to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Dickson replied that while he doesn’t hold brief for the former President, Jonathan must be very sad about the current happenings in the PDP.
“What I can say is that President Jonathan, while I’m not his spokesman, must be very sad.
“I know that if I’m sad, having been this attached to the PDP. You can imagine how sad he will be, having been governor, deputy governor, vice president, and president of Nigeria on that platform, and right before your eyes, that platform is evaporating,” Dickson responded.
Naija News recalls that Dickson had, on March 5, dumped the PDP for the NDC.
However, the Senator submitted that it would be wrong to say he and others are leaving the PDP, submitting that it is the party that left him, adding that the PDP has evaporated and ceased to exist.
Dickson said, “It wouldn’t be correct to say that we are leaving the PDP or I have left the PDP.
“The PDP, rather unfortunately, has left us, has left me, because the platform has evaporated and ceased to exist.”
Naija News reports that PDP has been embroiled in a leadership crisis especially at the national level, with two factions laying claim to the party’s leadership.
This has led to a large exodus of several high profile members with the PDP currenty left with just two governors in its ranks.
