All 44 Ministers were present at the valedictory session and they all took turns to appreciate the President and their colleagues.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who briefed Journalists at the end of the meeting, which lasted over five hours, said all ministers took turns to express their appreciation for the opportunity to serve Nigeria.
“At today’s valedictory meeting, we adopted the minutes of the two extra-ordinary FEC meetings and then opportunity was given to every Minister to make his own farewell speech.
“It is instructive to note that each Minister was given between two to five minutes to make his/her own valedictory speech and largely everybody commended and thanked the President for the opportunity to serve the country at this level. They also reeled out what each of their ministries achieved,” he said.
Mohammed said in his response, the President thanked all Ministers and wished them well in their future endeavours. Mohammed also said the President asked the Ministers to continue carrying out their duties till Monday, May 29, when the tenure of the current administration comes to an end.
“The President thanked all of us for our contribution and prayed for us in our next endeavour and reiterated the fact that we should all go back to our offices so that we can carry out the tasks assigned to us in respect of the transition programme.
“For instance tomorrow we will be at the conferment of the national honours on both the President-elect and the Vice President-elect and at that occasion the handing over instruments will also be given to the in-coming President,” he added.
Giving further details of the transition programme, he said there will be prayers on Friday, and Sunday, Inauguration lecture on Saturday; a dinner on Sunday night for visiting heads of State and the handover on Monday morning…..CONTINUE READING
