Rumble in Ebonyi over Nwifuru’s appointments

While some dismissed the new appointments as “clientele politics raised beyond reason,” others say Nwifuru is biting more than he can chew.

Rising from a meeting in Abakaliki, yesterday, a group called Association of Ebonyi Indigenes Socio-Cultural in Diaspora said there will be no peace in Ebonyi until the appointments are suspended or made to reflect the state’s heterogeneous composition.

According to a release issued by the body’s president, Pascal Oluchukwu, the people of Ebonyi have endured enough of insensitive leadership and will give Nwifuru no space for that.

Oluchukwu called on the “governor to become the leader of all parts of the state or resign from office. If his administration is assembling professionals as Nwifuru said, we have professionals from every nook and cranny in the state. And any of us is qualified for appointment into various political positions.”

But Gov. Nwifuru has dismissed those crticising his appointments as busybodies and urged Ebonyi people to disregard them.

Nwifuru stated this in a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, yesterday.

“Those criticising our appointments are busybodies who’re crying wolf where there is none. His Excellency is taking his time to assemble professionals in various areas to help him drive down his policies and programmes and therefore will not be stampeded by any faceless group into rushing into appointments just to favour a certain group whose stock-in-trade is to fight every administration in Ebonyi State. The appointment of principal officers, as alleged by this group, does not in any way signify the strength or weakness of the present administration under Governor Nwifuru,” he said……CONTINUE READING
