Ihensekhie 06/05/2023 Summons by the Edo State Police Station with the subject “Summon” stated that Eholori is expected to appear on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, and said the arrest of his client is a ruse.
The statement recalled that after the removal of fuel subsidy, Eholor published publications criticizing petrol station owners in Edo State for arbitrarily raising the pump price of petrol, including some state officials who allegedly did so, hence the call from Edo’s deputy state police chief.
A statement signed by Ihensekhien said: “We at One Love Foundation, Nigeria’s premier human rights organization, are committed to truth, public interest and ensuring justice for all vulnerable citizens.
“We wish to alert and warn everyone about the covert attempt to arrest one of the founders of Global Love Foundation by some online publications in the person of Chief Patrick Eholori for criticizing leaders and dignitaries in Edo State in the recent oil pump price hike/imbroglio and Edo State issue.”
However, we note that our own Eholor, in a recent edition of Vanguard Newspaper dated June 3, 2023, advised the Deputy Governor of Edo State to just live by example: “Let me also use this opportunity to speak to the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Phillip Shaibu; he is my brother; he is said to have many petrol stations, and he should set an example so that he can sell his petrol at a regulated and approved pump price for others to follow and that will also do.
