During the ceremony, Yusuf expressed his gratitude to the people of Kano who, despite losing his victory in 2019, stood by him to ensure the justification of their votes. He promised to do his utmost to address the decay in the state and alleviate the pain and agony endured by the citizens in the last eight years.
The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, was reportedly booed and pelted with sachets of water by some members of the Kwankwasiyya group for allegedly being loyal to the outgoing governor, Abdullahi Ganduje. The Emir was later escorted to his seat at the venue of the inauguration ceremony.
Notably present at the event were the National Leader of the NNPP, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and five Emirs of Rano, Karaye, Bichi, and Gaya.
