The anti-graft commission is currently looking into several former governors who are being accused of misappropriating cash after having previously investigated and found guilty some former governors.

However, the governor and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) asserted that he has nothing to fear from an investigation of his administration by the anti-corruption agency.

On May 29, 2023, Wike’s eight-year, two-term term will come to an end. He has instructed Siminlalayi Fubara, the governor-elect of Rivers State, to take the EFCC to see the many projects he has completed in Rivers.

He spoke on Wednesday at the commissioning of Rumuigbo Internal Road Network in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in the oil-rich South-South state.

The governor said, “I am happy I am leaving office fulfilled. I’m leaving office with my shoulders high. I am leaving office very well. I’m not leaving office to run away so that EFCC would not come; I’m leaving office and I will stay here; I am not going anywhere. When the EFCC come, go and show them the projects.”
