He also highlighted the BVAs’ malfunction and the eventual rigging of the election in some polling units. Everything was portrayed perfectly, from the lyrics down to the song’s cover art.

At a point, he also touched on the tribal prejudice during the elections while blaming and likening the INEC Chairman, Yakubu to a fraudster. The message was simple: you were allotted ₦300 billion to conduct an election, and why did it turn out to be unsafe for voters?

“Make we no forget say over ₦300 billion wey fit build beta infrastructure, Mr. Yakubu use am conduct selection,” Falz had tweeted hours before the release of his latest single.

In just a few hours since its release, the single has started generating commentary as one fan said, ‘Falz is the modern day Fela’. Another said, ‘Love the way these guys are showing that musical consciousness can be fully expressed by addressing pressing issues in society. Falz will always be a relevant musician’.

Like ‘This Is Nigeria,’ which ushered in ‘Moral Instruction’, Is ‘Yakubu’ going to usher in a new era of the conscious musical side of Falz? Only time will tell…..CONTINUE READING
