The APC Zoning Arrangement for the 10th National Assembly has seen the South East being placed in the Deputy Speakership position in the person of Ben Kalu. Quite a number of South Eastern Senators have expressed their desire to contest for the Senate Presidency. He stated in an interview with AIT that a major tribe in Nigeria cannot be push to the bottom in the affairs of the Nation. He argued further that the campaigns and elections are over and so its the governance of National interest that should be the focus. According to him, the number of people who voted for Asiwaju in the South East will be expecting an high profile job for the region.
He said, ”The South East has the right to agitate against the APC NASS zoning. Because you can’t push a major tribe in this country to the rear end in National affairs. You can’t say because you didn’t get a vote from a region, you won’t get them involve. You don’t engage a country from that mindset. Unless a section of the country says you are no longer our CEC, you can now begin to assume that you don’t want to be part of this aggregate.
But as long as you have members of the APC from that side who supported you, you cannot throw that argument out there. If you have 127,000 people supporting you from a zone and within them, they have done a good job to be considered for a high-profile job.
