The contingent arrived in Port Harcourt from Johannesburg on Wednesday night. They were however unable to travel to Uyo because the airport had closed by the time the team was scheduled to take off.
Hugo Broos’ side are now expected to make the trip to Uyo on Thursday morning.
The team will have a feel of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo later this evening.
The encounter is slated for the ground at 8 pm on Friday.
Grant Kekana is ruled out of the clash, Bafana Bafana are sweating over some key Mamelodi Sundowns players.
Bafana plays the Super Eagles in Uyo on Friday in a FIFA World Cup qualifier match. Coach of the South African football national team Hugo Broos has expressed concern about several injuries.
Grant Kekana was ruled out of the clash after sustaining an injury against Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday.
Broos said four other Sundowns players came into the Bafana camp with niggles.
“Those four players have little problems but will be ready for [the Nigeria game]. It’s amazing that from the six injuries, it’s six players of the same team, Sundowns, they had many injuries this season,” he said.
“Everybody knows, one of the reasons is certainly the overloaded program. They played a lot of games, but what is interesting is that 75% of the injuries are groin and hamstring injuries, and I think it has to be something more than [too many] games.
“I hope that the medical staff of Sundowns can find the reason for that because next season it will be the same, they will have the same overloaded program, playing PSL, MTN8, Champions League, there’s even Club World Cup at the end of the season,” the Bafana coach told iDiski Times.
Broos has selected a total of nine Sundowns players in his Bafana squad to play Nigeria and Zimbabwe. The team will face the Super Eagles before hosting Zimbabwe on Tuesday. Bafana currently sits second in group C. Four Bafana and Sundowns players; Aubrey Modiba, Teboho Mokoena, Bathusi Aubaas, and Ronwen Williams are recovering from separate niggles. Khuliso Mudau appeared to have suffered a shoulder injury in the final but is still in camp and could be fit for Friday’s match.
