This was as NEYGA particularly cautioned Bello to stop the sponsored campaign of calumny and blackmail against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that is merely carrying out its assigned duties of investigating crimes he committed.
These were contained in a statement by Ibrahim Danmusa, spokesman of NEYGA in which the group challenged Bello to come out from his hiding and clear his name as against the attempts to tarnish the reputation of the EFCC and its chairman.
NEYGA said that the desperate moves by Bello to divert attention from his alleged involvement in the ₦80 billion fraud cannot swayed the public, stressing that Nigerians are aware of how Bello mismanaged state resources and that Bello should not consider himself to be above the law.
In the words of NEYGA; “Bello should willingly subject himself to investigation and answer pending necessary questions. Bello must stop behaving as if he is above other former governors who are currently undergoing investigations for the mismanagement of state resources’’.
NEYGA stressed that Nigerians are aware of Bello’s alleged mismanagement of State resources and conscious of the fact that a day of reckoning would eventually come for him.
It also said; “Remember how over 14 properties and ₦400 million linked to Yahaya Bello were confiscated by the EFCC with the case now in court.”
“Yahaya Bello is not above former Governors Fayose, Jolly Nyame, Dariye, Ramallan Yaro and others who are undergoing investigations.
The group said that the earlier Bello realise the need to halt his campaign of calumny and blackmail, and focus on clearing his name from the allegations of fraud, the better for him.
