“Ayo Fayose Made Makinde Governor Through Me” – Isaac Fayose Reveals

Isaac Fayose, businessman and younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has stirred fresh political debate after claiming that his elder brother played a major role in the emergence of Seyi Makinde as Oyo State governor in 2019.

His comments come amid growing tension between Ayo Fayose and Governor Makinde, following the worsening political rift between both men.

Speaking via a post on his official Facebook page, Isaac Fayose opened up on events leading to the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State.

He claimed he was directly involved in discussions and meetings that shaped Makinde’s political journey to the Government House.

According to him, Ayo Fayose made significant moves behind the scenes to ensure Makinde secured the needed political backing at the time.

“Ayo Fayose made Seyi Makinde governor through me over 7 years ago. I was party to all that transpired between them.

“In this fight between my brother and Governor Makinde, I am going to support Ayo Fayose”, Isaac claimed.

Isaac further stated that several strategic meetings were held during that period, involving key political figures, to actualise Makinde’s governorship ambition.

He recalled one of such meetings in Ibadan, where plans were allegedly discussed in detail.

“Makinde, do you remember the first cow we killed at my resort in Ring Road, Ibadan while planning to make you a governor?

“Ayo Fayose made you Oyo State Governor, I’m not supporting him, I’m just being fair among both of you.

“Do you remember, Victor Enahoro, Anthony Enahoro’s son? We were all at the meeting that brought you as governor. I went to my brother and begged him on your behalf and he did the needful”, he said.

The businessman also weighed in on the ongoing feud between the two politicians, suggesting that Ayo Fayose’s anger may be rooted in feelings of betrayal and abandonment after Makinde assumed office.

Isaac argued that the relationship between both men deteriorated after years of political cooperation, leading to the current hostility.

He then urged Governor Makinde to seek reconciliation with the former Ekiti governor, insisting that peace remains possible if both parties are willing to settle their differences.

“I understand Fayose’s anger. Because he put you there and now you neglected him, he wants to take Ole Osa back”, he added.

Recall Politics Nigeria reported that Ayo Fayose had recently vowed to politically challenge Governor Makinde ahead of 2027.
