During the reception of defectors primarily from Ward 5, Omobayo was supported by Yekini Idaiye, the member representing Akoko-Edo I in the state House of Assembly, Tajudeen Alade, the council Chairman, and other leaders. He emphasized the PDP’s growing appeal in Edo, attributing it to Governor Godwin Obaseki’s commendable achievements over the past seven and a half years.

Omobayo stated, “Akoko-Edo remains a stronghold for the PDP, and the formidable team of Dr. Ighodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, symbolizes continuity and the consolidation of Governor Obaseki’s administration. I urge everyone to unite with other party members to bring more former members into our fold, ensuring they vote for Ighodalo and Ogie to bring development to our local council.”

Former APC leader of Ward 5, Ibrahim Lamidi, alongside Labour Party leaders Matthias Igodifo and Ojeh Ojishua, spoke on behalf of the defectors, affirming their confidence in the PDP to deliver democracy’s dividends to Dangbala and Edo State. They pledged to deliver Ward 5 to the PDP, expressing gratitude to Governor Obaseki for his exemplary governance and visionary leadership. Additionally, Omobayo received another group of defectors from Ekpesa, led by Lucky Adesina, the former APC youth leader in the area.
