BREAKING: Abuja Protesters Demand Action Against Insecurity, Block Major Road

The protest against rising insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory entered its third day, as demonstrators blocked a bridge along the Karu-Nyanya Expressway, a major route connecting Abuja and Nasarawa State.

Carrying placards and chanting anti-government slogans, the protesters called on the government to fulfil its responsibility of protecting lives and property amid growing concerns over insecurity.

The demonstrators initially gathered on a bridge in the Karu-Nyanya area before marching towards Nyanya, causing significant disruption to traffic along the busy Abuja-Keffi Expressway.

The protest resulted in severe traffic congestion, leaving many commuters stranded for several hours.

According to the protesters, the persistent cases of kidnappings, violent attacks and other security challenges have made life increasingly difficult for residents.

They urged the authorities to take urgent and decisive action to address the situation.

Security personnel were deployed to the area to monitor the protest and manage traffic flow, while motorists were advised to use alternative routes due to the disruption caused by the demonstration.

As of the time of filing this report, there were no reports of violence or casualties. However, the blockade continued to impact vehicular movement along the Karu-Nyanya corridor.
