He commended the former commandant over the synergy with the state government.
While welcoming the new NSCDC Commandant to Bauchi State, Governor Mohammed lamented that the former Commandant was “removed from Bauchi for doing good.”
He however expressed optimism that the new Commandant would discharge his responsibility effectively,
“The man that was brutally removed from here was my brother and he brought a lot of collaboration and synergy between the government and the Corps,” Governor Mohammed said.
“What you have seen on the ground was because of him, but I think he was punished for being good and that is the collateral damage that he suffered from because sometimes leaders bring politics into governance which is very unfortunate.
“You are always at the receiving end, you, the Command and what have you, but I wish you well and I wish the Commandant General well and we will continue to work with you.
”There is nothing personal about it, but certainly I wish him all the best because he’s one of the best persons I have met as an Officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps”.
The Governor said that he had a good relationship with the former NSCDC Commandant, saying that his administration is always ready to lend support with the hope that the gesture will be reciprocated.
“We are only doing it on behalf of the people who brought us by the grace of God, to power,” he said.
“I provided about 10 vehicles for you so that you will be able to do complementary services to what the police and the Nigerian Army are doing because we believe in you but certainly we are doing it because we should have synergy and understanding.”
He also said that the government and the NSCDC must work hard to provide the conducive atmosphere for the law-abiding citizens to sleep with their eyes closed.
Mohammed advised officers of the NSCDC to be good all the time as a security agency that is very close to the people.
He urged them to always work to rid Communities of criminal tendencies and not abetting it.
He assured that his administration wouldl continue to render necessary support to help the Corps discharge its responsibilities effectively in the state.
Speaking earlier, the newly posted Commandant, noted that his presence in the State was to tackle illegal miners as well as to protect critical assets of the government.
Olajide promised to work towards ridding Bauchi state of illegal private security companies.
He said he has set the ball rolling by holding a Stakeholders’ meeting with heads of private security companies operating in the state.
The new Commandant explained that he has since introduced night patrol to enable officers fight the menace of Sara suka thugs and kidnappers in the state.
“Sincerely speaking, I have served in various Commands across the country, I have not come across a state that loves and cares about the NSCDC like Bauchi State,” he said.
“I assumed here and saw the fleet of operational vehicles, it was sincerely, very wonderful.
“In some State Commands, you hardly see three to four vehicles for operations. We sincerely appreciate the Governor and his government for this.”
Olajide then assured that the Command would synergize with other security agencies working in the state to ensure a crime free state calling for support and cooperation….CONTINUE READING>>>
