Troost-Ekong suffered an injury during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and has not played any professional game since then.

He played through the pain barrier during the tournament in Côte d’Ivoire, suffering a thigh injury in the second group stage match and requiring surgery after returning to Europe.

Despite his injury, he was named Player of the Tournament.

PAOK, who won their fourth league championship last season, will face Cypriot team AEK Larnaca on July 3 and Scottish Premiership outfit Hibernian on July 6, before meetings with Belgian opponents Racing Genk on July 10 and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on July 13 as part of their pre-season games.

The Tottenham Hotspur academy product has been linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window, but nothing has materialized yet.

PAOK’s first competitive game of the new season is against either Borac Banja Luka or Egnatia Rrogozhiin the Champions League qualifiers on July 27.
