Zhao, in the post, reposted by Nigerian Ports Authority, said the train was expected to arrive in Ibadan in less than three hours.
“The first container freight train of the Lagos-Ibadan railway, built by #CCECC, has set off from Apapa Port in Lagos, #Nigeria. It departed from Apapa Port and carried a total of thrity 40-foot containers, arriving at Ibadan station in just two and a half hours, ” he said.
Thediscoverer reports that the Lagos-Ibadan railway, which is 157-kilometre rail trip from Ebute Metta in Lagos to Moniya in Ibadan, which has now been connected to Apapa Port, is a section of the proposed Lagos to Kano Standard Gauge Rail Project.
The freight train is expected to decongest the ever-busy Apapa roads as well as reduce incidents of road crashes involving trucks that are often used to convey containers from the port.
