But in the same vein, Western leaders and institutions are fearful of negative public opinions. With Government structures kept alive by democratic ethos, woe betide the Western politician, who takes public opinion for granted.
Interestingly, Israel today does not give a hoot about Christianity as it has even criminalized evangelism. Pentecostals are just realizing that they were willing tools in a century old carefully designed propaganda effort to give legitimacy to an apartheid State. Public opinion on Western capitals is swinging against Israel and whoever is helping the Jewish State.
Israel on its own cannot survive a confrontation with the Arab world. Its much vaunted Intelligence and military capabilities are being sustained by the West, especially the US and UK. The US bears most of the burdens of the Jewish state with annual handouts from Washington – more like a glorified Babianla situation. Only that the world hardly sees the Almajiri that Tel Aviv is.
With the ongoing genocide, which Israel is perpetrating against the Palestinians, it is only a matter of time before the West withdraw its age long support for Israel. For one, the pro-Palestine rallies in Western capitals is enough proof that the stigmatization of Arabs as terrorists by the average white person is wearing off.
Besides, it is kudos to the average Arab young minds out there that they are working very hard to change the narrative and bring many to understand the issues at stake which are beyond religion, contrary to what Israel and its supporters have been packaging for more than 100 years.
It is very sad that Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu has veered off course from what Shimon Perez and Yitzhak Rabin saw and were working on. These were men with foresight, who saw tomorrow and tried to give a future to the next generation of Israelis. Sadly, the extremists, who Netanyahu encouraged, have buried that aspiration with the atrocities being committed in Gaza today.
Yes, the Arab could be timid and lack strategic thinking. That could be attributed to the older generation of Arabs, who cocooned themselves in the Gulf States and bluntly refused to mix and share ideas/values. Today’s young Arabs are more than cosmopolitan with thousands, if not millions, being graduates of Western universities.
Palestinian hero, Yehya Ayash, may have been matryed, but he was way ahead of his ancestors in using technology to fight the Israeli occupation of Gaza. The October 7, 2023 demystification of Israeli vigilance was most likely organized by the same generation who have studied the modern ways of warfare. With access to stolen war planes, tanks and artillery, maybe Israel would have been begging the United Nations today for a truce. It is certain a return match would come, but in a more devastating manner.
Israeli leaders are missing it. The oppressed will not continue to receive, at least, not in today’s generation. These younger people will find a way to strike back in a manner that’ll shock the world. The backward Houthis remain a trouble in the Red Sea. Internet access across Africa was disrupted through the destruction of undersea cables by the Houthis. I am sure nobody ever believed this could happen. But it did by a people who believe they are helping the Palestinian cause.
You wipe out entire families, stop food and medicine from being shipped to desperate people. You also bomb hospitals and kill scores of journalists to stop your atrocities from being shown to the world and naively believe repercussions will not come?Dey play, as we say in Nigeria. I am sure it will not be a bombing spree by suicide bombers. Western cities will also not be targets this time around, since their people have shown definite anger at what Israel is doing. But I dare say that when the repercussions come, it will shock the world!
And, when it does start, the West will not be there for Israel. It will be another siege of Berlin, which put an end to Hitler’s reign of terror. Netanyahu’s borrowed robe from the Nazis would have been burnt to ashes by then. Sadly, those who’ll suffer will be innocent Israelis. That day will come. Of that, son of man is very sure!
