The incident, which occurred at the early hour of Thursday, had no fewer than 100 people gathered at the river’s sacred grove, crying and expressing their sorrow over the tragic event.
An eyewitness, simply identified as Mr. Yisau, who lives in the Bayeku Adeoti Area, told 247updates that the victim is an elderly man who entered the river and chanted praises to the Osun goddess till the river submerged him.
He stated that from 10 a.m. yesterday till the next day, all attempts to save him were unsuccessful, until Friday evening his corpse was exposed.
It was discovered that many individuals, including other worshippers of the Osun goddess, were still gathering near the river in huge numbers, crying and expressing their sorrow over the incident.
