The legal dispute over the Imo West senatorial ticket has taken a fresh twist as Barrister Enyinma Onuegbu, Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, criticized the court’s handling of the timeline surrounding former Governor Rochas Okorocha’s legal challenge.
Speaking on TVC News’ Politics on Sunday, on Sunday November 1, 2026, Onuegbu took issue with the court accepting Okorocha’s claim that he was unaware of the primary election results until mid-August nearly three months after the exercise concluded.
Highlighting the contradiction in the timeline and the lack of any public celebration, Onuegbu stated:
“Now this judge elected to ignore and abandon these settled legal positions and proceeded to say first thing, ‘Oh, the applicant said he never knew of the result until 13th of August when he filed his action on 18th’ 3 months plus, in fact 87 days after ‘so I believe him, he didn’t know.’ This is a man who went home and participated in the primaries, came back to his village, came back to Abuja. Nobody saw him anywhere clicking glasses of champagne or water, or celebrating in the church he runs in Abuja as a pastor, that ‘I have won primaries,'”
