Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, stated that the identities of the attackers were unknown. However, Commissioner Babatola later clarified that the conflict involved his men and military officers, resulting in the death of Police Inspector Jacob Daniel.
In response to the situation, CP Babatola ordered an immediate investigation and emphasized the sanctity of the lives of police officers. He stated, “The Command holds the lives of all security personnel sacrosanct, and such unwarranted conflict would be strictly treated in accordance with extant laws.”
Babatola reassured the commitment of the police to protecting lives and property, urging collaboration with other security agencies to safeguard the fundamental rights of security operatives. The statement appealed for calm, emphasizing ongoing efforts by top management to address the situation.
