This was confirmed by one of Tani Olohun’s lawyers, Muftau Olufola Olobi while addressing newsmen after the court sitting on Monday morning in Ilorin.
This comes barely 35 days after a Kwara State Upper Area Court in Ilorin earlier granted bail to the Isese (indigenous religion) practitioner but Tani Olohun could not be released as the magistrate court where he had another case denied him bail at the time.
In a video seen by SaharaReporters, the lawyer described the bail condition as liberal. He said the court only demanded two sureties living within its jurisdiction to stand for the detained ‘Isese’ practitioner.
He said, “We thank God that the court has granted him bail today. We did not encounter any objection (to the bail application) from lawyers representing Ogo Ilorin. They claimed they had been given instructions from their clients not to object to Abdulazeez Adegbola’s bail.
“We thank the judge that he also did not waste time to hear our application, and for granting the bail in a very liberal term. The condition of the bail is very liberal; the court asked for a member of his family living within its jurisdiction and one other person to stand for him as sureties.
“The court did not even ask for money or anything. The next thing is to perfect the bail conditions and we have commenced the process. The sureties will sign the forms and take it back to the judge.”
However, the lawyer was not sure if the perfection of the bail condition would grant his client total freedom.
He continued: “That is the problem we have. I heard he also has two other pending cases against him, but I have not seen the process. I heard it like a rumour. But I know there is no smoke without fire. But I will try to see the processes for these cases and know the court today so that we can perfect everything at once so that he can leave the prison in peace.”
SaharaReporters had reported how the police in Kwara State, North Central Nigeria, confirmed that the warrant used to arrest Adegbola Abdulazeez was fake.
The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, had said the command had no idea which court issued the warrant to arrest Tani Olohun.
