As reported by Leadership, a source said the hoodlums also kidnapped some police operatives, including female police personnel.

Hoodlums attack police station with Explosive Devices

The state police public relations officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the hoodlums attacked the police station with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

Ikenga, however, said the hoodlums did not take away any arms or police personnel.

The police spokesman said operatives are still carrying on operations in the area.

He added that the hoodlums were forced to flee after the police operatives subdued them with superior firepower, Vanguard reports.

It was gathered that the attackers were shouting “DPO must go; he has overstayed; he has been in Anaocha for over 15 years.”

It was, however, not clear why they also attacked the local government office very close to the station.

Ikenga promised to communicate further development on the sad incident.
Gunmen Bomb Police Area Command, Kill Inspector

Meanwhile, Legit reported that gunmen attacked a police station in the Eika-Ohizenyi area of Okehi LGA, Kogi state. The gunmen were said to have attacked the police station with explosives in the early hours of Friday, June 24, 2022.

During the incident, a police inspector was killed while a section of the station was damaged.

William Aya, Kogi police spokesperson, confirmed the attack in a statement. Aya noted that Edward Egbuka, Kogi police commissioner, has visited the scene of the incident, adding that additional operational assets have been deployed to the area.
