Meanwhile, in the South-West, reports of insecurity have increased recently.

On Thursday, bandits laid siege on Ikere Ekiti and Iju road and kidnapped over 35 travellers.

The victims were, according to several reports, travelling in two vehicles – a Toyota Corolla and a white Highlander when they were intercepted and marched into the bush.

A video of the incident seen by SaharaReporters on Saturday showed how the hoodlums riddled the vehicles with bullets.

It was gathered that personnel of the Ondo State Amotekun and the Nigerian police, who were called for intervention, had already started tracking the kidnappers.
