Before the 2023 policy meeting held by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, all institutions were advised to propose the cut-off marks for the conduct of their admissions.
Seven institutions, including four federal universities, indicated their minimum admissions benchmark scores to be 200 and above. However, at the policy meeting, Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian universities unanimously agreed on 140 as the minimum benchmark for the admissions of the academic session 2023/2024.
While universities can decide individual cut-off marks, no university will be allowed to admit any candidate who scored below the 140 benchmark, according to JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.
