At the passing-out ceremony for the more than 501 corps members who were selected from all state commands around the federation as well as other formations following intense proficiency training at the corps’ national headquarters in Abuja, Audi took the lead.

An Assistant Commandant General in charge of Agro Rangers, ACG Augustine Obiekwe, represented Audi at the occasion. He explained that it is part of their job to protect people who are at a higher risk of threats due to their status, prominence, and influence.

He reiterated that the unit’s main goal is to keep VIPs safe and keep their privacy while allowing them to participate in their daily activities and engagements.

Earlier, in his welcome speech, ACG David Abi, the Assistant Commandant General overseeing Training and Manpower Development, urged the officers to apply all they had learned during training, emphasizing that the corps must perform up to par.

As a result of the necessity to give the Federal Government’s responsibility a concrete form, the Commandant General moved quickly to approve the creation of a special bodyguard/VIP protection unit. This was done in order to properly coordinate, command, and control the training of specific personnel in order to improve service delivery in accordance with international best practices.

As a result, the NSCDC Commandant General authorized the appointment of Assistant Commandant of Corps Donald Anyor as the unit’s leader. Anyor made substantial contributions to several of the training manuals.
