The win over Udinese didn’t come easy according to coach Simone Inzaghi, who saw his team come from behind to beat their host leading to criticism over the manner of their win, but according to the coach it was down to the performance of Udinese shot stopper Maduka Okoye.
“Thuram takes the penalty, while Lautaro does something important on Frattesi’s goal, then finds a great Okoye. I congratulate Udinese, they also had players out, it wasn’t an easy match and we needed a great Inter and I’m happy. I heard some criticism on TV for the first half; we made a few mistakes, but we faced a great goalkeeper (Okoye) and a physical team, but we didn’t concede anything”, he said after the game.
Reacting to the praises from the coach, which has led to suggestions of a possible transfer in the summer especially with Inter looking for a young rep enforcement for Yan Sommer, Okoye who used to be the first choice of the senior national team of Nigeria thanked him but said he is focused on helping Udinese beat the drop.
“Inzaghi? Praise is nice, but at the moment Udinese is more important than individuals. We are aware of the situation we find ourselves in and how much this means for us, the club and the fans.
I don’t see fear in the locker room. Now in our heads there is only Rome .”
