Cheating is one of the most hurtful things in a relationship; it could break the bond between a couple, kill trust and in many cases, lead to the end of that relationship. Cheating is simply a betrayal of trust, but then people still cheat.…CONTINUE READING
Why people cheat is probably a difficult question to answer, but these are some facts about cheating, according to researchers.
1. WEALTHY AND MORE EDUCATED PEOPLE ARE MORE LIKELY TO CHEAT
Research has found that wealthy people are more likely to cheat than the average and low income earners.
According to a 2002 University of Washington study, people who make an annual salary of $75,000 and above are more likely to cheat than people who earn less than $30,000.
The study also found that those with graduate degrees are 1.75 times more likely to have an extramarital affair than those who didn’t graduate high school.
2. CHEATING PARTNERS LOVE TO SHOP
According to a poll by Ashley Madison of over 50,000 women, more than a third admitted to spending double just to keep up their appearances for their secret lover. 27% even said that they had a secret credit card to hide their expenses leading up to infidelity.
3. WOMEN WITH CHEATING MOTHERS ARE MORE LIKELY TO CHEAT
According to a survey conducted by Illicit Encounters, an extramarital dating site, of over 2000 of its members, 73% of women who admitted to having an affair also had mothers who cheated as well.
4. MEN AND WOMEN CHEAT DIFFERENTLY
While sexual cheating is common among both men and women, sexual and physical cheating is more common among men, while women tend to be more involved in emotional cheating, studies have found.
5. BEING HAPPILY MARRIED DOESN’T DISCOUNT CHEATING
According to Helen Fisher, her research revealed that 34% of cheating women admitted to having happy marriages, and 56% of men admitted to having happy marriages too.
Partners who cheat don’t necessarily cheat because they have an unhappy marriage, the research suggests.
6. CHEATING PARTNERS ARE LESS LIKELY TO PROTECT THEMSELVES
According to a 2012 study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, unfaithful couples are less likely than others to use condoms during sex.
The study suggests that they are most likely unprepared for the sexual intercourse and would tend to have unprotected sex rather than rush over and buy a pack of condom.
7. MEN WHO WORK IN WOMEN DOMINATED AREAS ARE MORE LIKELY TO CHEAT
Another study claims that men who work in jobs where females are many are more likely to cheat. But the same could not be said about women who work in male dominated areas.
