The family alleged the late Oseni and other family members had reported at the Homicide Section of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Abuja, about plans by the invaders to kill them.

One of the leaders of the family, Najeem Balogun, stated that the killing of the deceased, Abolore Oseni, was not unconnected with the Possession Order that was granted to the family by a competent High Court in the state and the subsequent execution of the order of the court.

Balogun stated, “Late Oseni and some other members of the family were in Olorunda village last week when some Hoodlums, who were mobilized by the Baale of the town, Atanda, attacked them and shot the 35 years old boy”.

“There had been battle for ownership of a vast expanse of land, which covered Oke Ore, Ajibawo, Olorunda, Ajegunle, Ones Olose, Kajola Iboro, Ajibawo and Makun including other places and the matter was determined to the level of the Appeal Court in favour of our family.”

“After we won the cases, the judgement debtor opted for an out of court settlement and we agreed to release part of the land to them, which we did.”

“Last year, we got a Possession Order from High Court, which was properly executed by the court bailiff in the presence of Policemen from the Operations Department of the Ogun State Police Command.”

“Shortly after we peacefully executed the Possession Order, the Baale of the town  hurriedly went to Atan Police Station. And when the DPO saw our documents, he advised them to go to court despite the fact that we have taken possession.”

“Olorunda is not the only community that was affected by the judgment but some members of the community insisted that the law would not take its course.”

“Before Oseni was killed, there had been threats to his life and those of other members of our family. The matter had been reported at the Homicide Section at FCID and investigation is ongoing. The Baale and his people have refused to honour the invitation by the Police.”

“What is even worrisome is the fact that despite the fact that one of us was killed and others injured, the Police at Atan still detained 10 injured men.”

“Is it possible that we will attack and kill our members and injure others while those on the other side did not record any case of injury” Najeem Balogun queried.

He therefore, called on the Inspector General of Police to direct the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abiodun Alamutu, and the officers in charge of the Homicide Sections in the state and at FCID, Abuja, to ensure  proper investigations into the death of Abolore.

“The IGP should direct the Commissioner of Police in Ogun and the Officers’ in Charge of  Homicide Sections at FCID, Abuja and Ogun State Command headquarters, Eleweran, to ensure proper investigations into the death of out family member.”

“Some of the invaders have been identified as: Muraina Lekan a.k.a Bansin, Wasiu Igboya, Afolabi Tope,  Fatoyinbo Aremu, Olowu, Monsuru Oje,  Waheed Adeleye, Seun Omosanya and  Dada” he stated.
