Former Senate President Ahmad Lawan, has explained how he facilitated the recruitment of two young Nigerians into the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).
In a Facebook post, Senator Lawan, who represents Yobe North Senatorial District, announced that he successfully secured appointments for Abdulsalam Shafiu Yaro and Abdullahi Sani Machina as staff of the agency.
According to him, the two young men were accompanied by Ibrahim Baba Ajiyabo, a dedicated DIA officer who has been guiding them into the service.
“I received two young men, Abdulsalam Shafiu Yaro and Abdullahi Sani Machina, following their recent successful recruitment, which I facilitated with the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA),” Lawan wrote after attending Senate plenary.

“They were accompanied by Ibrahim Baba Ajiyabo, a dedicated officer of the DIA who has been instrumental in guiding them into service.
“Seeing the joy and renewed sense of purpose in Abdulsalam and Abdullahi’s eyes reminded me of why I remain deeply committed to creating opportunities for our youth,” he added.

Lawan described Yaro and Machina, both indigenes of Yobe North, as bright, disciplined, and eager to serve the nation.
“It fills my heart with immense pride that they have found their path in protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity,” he said.
The former Senate President urged the new recruits to uphold the highest standards in their service.

“I told these young men that being employed with the DIA is a call to duty. I charged them to remain loyal to the Constitution, to discharge their responsibilities with the highest level of professionalism, and to be exemplary ambassadors of their families and our Senatorial District,” he stated.
He concluded with a prayer: “I pray the Almighty Allah guides and protects them as they embark on this vital national assignment.”
