Meanwhile, bandits in Zamfara, yesterday, communicated to the state governor, Dauda Lawal, expressing their readiness to engage in negotiations with his government just like Sheikh Gumi, a controversial Islamic Scholar had advised.
A few days ago, Gumi had raised suspicion against himself with a warning to the Nigerian Government against the use of kinetic approach in the fight against banditry.
Gumi, who warned the federal government and the military against the continuous bombing and killing of bandits, noted that the terrorists were becoming more hostile because the Nigerian government has been threatening to kill them.
He insisted that the best way to rescue all the abducted children and other residents of Kaduna State was for the government to negotiate with the bandits.
Following this, Imran Muhammad, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, shared a video showing the bandits declaring their readiness for negotiations.
Recall that Gumi made have the advice while reacting to the abduction of over 280 schoolchildren and staff members in Kaduna State last week
While expression readiness to engage with the bandits, Gumi said, “We are seeing that these bandits are getting more and more vicious. Before they didn’t do what they do. Now they are heading to softer targets, as the military man has said.
